RT100 is a portable three-frequency signal generator that can be used for a wide variety of testing and troubleshooting applications. Used in conjunction with a Signal Level Meter, the gain or loss of any system component can be quickly measured. Multiple carriers allow testing in both the upstream and downstream paths. RT100 can be used to test and balance return amplifiers or to test and troubleshoot home wiring. In cases of high modem output levels (or inability to lock) the modem can be replaced by the RT100. Next, signal level measurements are made at each connection point heading back upstream until the source of low gain is identified. Once the problem is fixed, the modem is reconnected and tested to verify normal transmit levels.
